This section identifies other resources related to the one being described.

relatedItem can have multiple subelements -- any element/subelement in the Descriptive metadata (e.g., typeOfResource, titleInfo, etc.) may be used as a sub-element of relatedItem.

Usage Note

See the descriptions of the other elements/subelements for information about content of the relatedItem subelements. relatedItem should be used only for resources with separate descriptive cataloging or when the format differs substantially from the source object (e.g., transcript as a version of an oral history). Do not enter host collection as related item here. Information about host collection is automatically added as relatedItem to the generated xml by the system (with type = "host", identifierType = "local").
