Definition
For moving images and audio recordings, a temporary support used to hold the media, and which is not an integral part of the media, such as a hub (for audiotape), a core, or a reel. Videotape is generally not associated with a mount. A mount is designed for temporary use and can be changed without difficulty. Do not confuse with shell, a non-removable enclosure such as the cartridge or cassette that holds a length of audiotape. Do not confuse with outerContainer, which is the enclosure housing media or the media in its shell, such as a film can, a CD jewel case, the sleeve of a record album, or a cardboard carton used to hold multiple videocassettes.
