Definition
The copyright status of the work. Copyright status is a legal protection afforded to all works that are not in the public domain. It is very important to give user's guidance about the copyright status of works, in particular, since this status, in the absence of a specific license, governs any subsequent use of the work.
Usage Note
If the copyright status is uncertain, for reasons such as lack of provenance information (e.g., creator, creation date), select the value "unknown."

Definition
The formal copyright notice as it appears on the work.
Usage Note
This element is reserved for the formal copyright notice, which often appears on the copyright verso for printed text or on a credits frame for moving images. This element is non-repeatable so if multiple notices are available, prefer the more formal notice often associated with other rights information such as publisher, publication date and publication history. For printed matter, the more formal notice generally appears on the title page verso. Other copyright notices may be documented in the copyrightNote subelement, if deemed sufficiently important by the cataloger.
