DescriptionThis Report is the result of a two phase study of approximately one mile of Passaic River frontage in Newark, New Jersey (See Figure 1). The six month Study Process is diagrammed in Figure 2. The first phase of work consisted of an analysis of existing conditions in the General Study Area (See Section 1.2 for a description of this area) and the generation and testing of alternative concepts for the long range redevelopment of the northern two-thirds of the site, which is adjacent to Newark's Central Business District. The second phase focused on the central portion of the overall study area (the area between Penn Station and Saybrook Place) and proposed a more detailed plan and implementation mechanisms.
