The topography was determined by aerial photography by photogrammetric methods. Original photographs taken in 1942. Updates have been periodic. The map is tinted to show different zones, updates, and areas of urban expansion.

It also features two insets: a regional geologic map and a geologic map of the Leigh Cave area. Kittatinny limestone is featured on the map as well as precambrian gneiss. Two cross-sections also are included on the map.
