Abstract
The availability of fresh water was critical to the success of Ocean Grove. Named after a well dug by Abraham in the Old Testament, Beersheba Well was first drilled in 1870. On August 20, 1904 famed temperance lecturer Carrie Nation spoke at Beersheba Well. The Historical Society of Ocean Grove currently maintains the well, drinking fountain and structure surrounding it.
