Abstract
Hollingshead-Peacock house, Vincentown-Pemberton Rd. This house is doubled-dated and initialed on west section: H. (Hollingshead) I. (John) and M. (Mary) 1785 and on east section P. (Peacock) D. (David) and S. (Sarah) 1812. The house was the residence of David Peacock who was an early inventor of the iron plow and did much experimental work on this farm. He was a pioneer user of marl as a fertilizer. Peacock married the daughter of the original builder of the west portion and, through her, inherited the property, and in 1812, added the east part. The interior has antique bits of hardware but the ancient fire-places have been closed up. Parts of the plows were forged in a brick blacksmith shop near the present lane entrance.
