Abstract (type = abstract)
Presentation from the Conference, Etched in Memory, Legacy Planning for Artists, held at the Institute for Women & Art, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, March 20, 2009. Paul Sepuya, Artist Support Director of the Joan Mitchell Foundation, talked about the visual artist pre documentation assessment, to help artists determine what they have and how to keep documentation of it. He talks about the information to collect and place in a database--an inventory number, date, medium, etc. as well as what kinds of materials to collect as part of your legacy papers. One key recommendation is disaster planning--keeping offsite copies of your work and most important documentation.
