TitleAmerican heritage festival dedicated to all Americans on our 200th birthday presented by the combined veterans' organizations of New Jersey at the Garden States Arts Center
DescriptionThis poster, in the colors of the American flag, invited families to an American heritage festival that was to occur at the Garden State Arts Center on Saturday, October 9, 1976. This event, which was sponsored by veterans' organizations, was apparently designed to celebrate the many different ethnic communities that had developed in New Jersey throughout its 200-year existence. The poster indicates colorful folk dance performances that were to be expected at the festival from the following ethnic groups: African American, German American, Greek American, Hawaiian, Hungarian American, Irish American, Italian American, Norwegian American, Filipino American, Polish American, Scandinavian American, and Scottish American. Included in this advertisement are the names and pictures of a number of people who were to perform at the festival, including the country performers The Pine Coners and the Big Band performers Bob Eberly and Helen Forrest, representing different styles of American music. In addition, the poster indicates the expectation of exhibits and 'typical' American food and souvenirs.
