Abstract
(type = summary)
In the second clip, Kimberly and Audra worked together on the task: Which is larger one half or three fourths. Kimberly built a model using an orange and red train, two dark green rods, and four light green rods , and reasoned directly that three fourths was larger than one half by one fourth. She then set out to find another model, and built a model that was the same length using a different train as one. Researcher Amy Martino questioned her about her two models, and Kimberly repeated her direct justification for her solution, showing the difference between three fourths and one half. When questioned about her second model, she told the researcher that it was the same length as her first. The researcher encouraged her to find a model that was of a different length.
