The seventh of eight clips in Series One of Exploring Linear Functions occurs during the students' second day exploring Guess My Rule problems. Researcher Allison McCulloch asks Ariel to prepare a presentation of his solution for problem 3. As he is recording his table of values for X equal zero through twenty-five on a transparency, James is developing his table of values for a problem that he has created in response to an earlier challenge. He shares his table with Ariel who studies the values and quickly responds with the rule "times 3 plus 9". Ariel then returns to his table and, when questioned by researcher Baldev about particular values, identifies his earlier mistake and begins to correct the subsequent values.
