This presentation is one of a series of presentations from 1925-2010, by members of The Study Club, in New Brunswick, NJ, a woman's club dedicated to studying, presenting and discussing the important issues of the day

The history of music beginning with what scholars believe the to be the earliest music in the time of the caveman, centered on the bone as an instrument. The development of instruments and musical styles follows through the ages up to rock music. The importance of the ear and the replication of sounds in nature are described. The possibility is posed that chanting existed long before singing, based on the development of man's mouth and tongue.
