This 9 3/4 by 15 inch parchment commission document for 5th Sergeant Ralph C. Witter, dated August 23rd, 1862 is signed by the regimental commander, Colonel William S. Truex. Regimental Adjutant F. Lemuel Buckelew also signed this commission. Having served his entire service with the regiment, Sergeant Witter was discharged for disability on June 12, 1865.
