Abstract (type = abstract)
The results for the observation of a Higgs boson decaying into two photons with the full Run 1 dataset from the Large Hadron Collider is presented. The analysis is performed with the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider from pp collisions at centre of mass energy of 7 TeV and 8 TeV, which correspond to integrated luminosities of 5.1$fb^{-1}$ and 19.7$fb^{-1}$ respectively. The sequence of the analysis from vertex selection, photon energy reconstruction, photon identification and finally event selection is done using multivariate techniques. The Higgs boson is observed as a significant excess of events in the diphoton invariant mass spectrum from 100 to 180 GeV. The best fit signal strength $mu=sigma_{obs}/sigma_{SM}$ gives the compatibility of the observed cross-section with the predicted cross-section from the Standard Model. In addition, the analysis accounts for different Higgs production mechanisms to target the Higgs couplings to the top quark and also the W and Z vector bosons.
