Mageline Little discusses experiencing racism in the North

PurposeExcerpts -- Oral histories
DescriptionMageline Little remembers numerous experiences of racism in Newark. Unlike the South where one knew what the boundaries were, in the North one often was taken by surprise she says. “It hurt a little more than it did in the South.” One experience was at Hahne’s department store. Mrs. Little made a scene, experienced as she was in public protest from her time in the South. She also had a similar experience at Bamberger’s.
