TY - JOUR TI - There is no such thing as a patient DO - https://doi.org/doi:10.7282/T3D50Q98 PY - 2016 AB - This paper examines the concept of safety in psychoanalysis in a long-term treatment of complex trauma. The writer examines safety from an intersubjective angle while also examining unconscious influences of the analyst, as well as how external influences may have affected how the analyst approached the topic of safety within the analysis. Resolution of an impasse towards negotiating a feeling of safety for the traumatized patient occurred when the analyst negotiated safety for herself in her own life. The role of institute training is examined, as well, for its impact on safety. KW - Social Work KW - Psychoanalysis KW - Post-traumatic stress disorder LA - eng ER -
