DescriptionWe developed an algorithm to predict structural variants using long reads. We applied multiple signals including split-read, alignment mismatching and read-depth to identify structural variants in PacBio whole genome sequencing and found our results to be comparable to other structural variant detection algorithms. Our approach provides an effective way of detecting structural variants in long read datasets that can compensate for and complement the limitations and benefits of short reads.
