Abstract (type = Description)
Sydenham (pg. 149) mentions that the family names of Tituria and Vettia have Sabine origin and that the figure riding the biga could be either Tatius, Numa or the 'interrex', Spurius Vettius, an ancestor of the moneyer. Crawford (pg. 414), however, believes that the charioteer is too vague of a representation to give name to (although they mention Numa and Hercules as possible candidates) and that it is best to identify him as a 'magistrate engaged in judicial activity, perhaps over corn distribution'. Badian's note on this object calls the figure a magistrate.
