My thesis is the story of an Err named Kalavati. She comes from the planet Errer, which has been destroyed. She is one of about a third of the Err population to survive – Errs being the most intellectually advanced species, i.e. the ultimate top of the food chain, on Errer – but she is one of only two Errs that was sent to Earth in order to save the humans from their own destruction. Spanning from the day Kal is launched from her planet until the end when she achieves Earth and dies, this is the esh of Kal’s story. This esh encompasses her entire life. It’s the story of an Err growing up alone on a spaceship until she meets another Err with different ideas of where they should go. It’s the story of an Err choosing to save aliens, humans, over returning to the new world that houses the survivors of her species. It’s the story of an Err becoming a hero. It’s a story about the spirit to live, but more importantly to grow, as Kal comes to believe that she is meant to do more than merely survive. Esh is a science-fictional novel, although I prefer to refer to it as a myth.
