DescriptionTHIS THESIS WILL HOPEFULLY
1.Complicate the memoir form through a lyric style and the use of speculative, or “genre,” conventions.
2.Explore the impact and experience of anxiety on a person, a life and relationships.
3.Capture the true scope of an anxiety disorder, by refusing a linear narrative form, and welcoming the exploration of the speculative.
4.Explains things that have been left unsaid to my mother.
MY COMPANION IS
1.A creature-fied representation of my anxiety – its own entity outside of me, constructed by the author through attention to larger concerns found within speculative fiction, particularly that of the horror genre.
2.Sick – anxiety is generally healthy but mine is disordered and so it interferes with my life, sometimes to disastrous results.
3.Trying their best – they think they are protecting me; they don’t mean to harm me.
