DescriptionThe aim of this project was to create an online educational course to increase APN students' knowledge and confidence in the STOPP/START criteria and polypharmacy. The educational intervention consisted of two modules and pre and post-test components. 19 APN students completed the course. Non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank test was used to measure differences in knowledge and confidence pre and post intervention. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in both knowledge about polypharmacy and confidence in using the STOPP/START criteria (p < 0.05). 68.4% of participants answered 4 out of 4 case study questions correctly, while the remaining 31.6% answered 3 out of 4 correctly. These results show the positive impact of educational interventions on APN students. Future research should focus on different types of educational interventions geared toward all providers and the impact of these interventions on clinical outcomes of patients.
