Philly, Not a Suburb of: Portraits of Growing Up in the 215 is a hybrid collection of poetry and creative nonfiction that centers on my childhood in Mayfair, a section of Northeast Philadelphia. The collection explores the intersections of place, family, and identity via snapshots of familial history and moments shared among myself, my parents, and my maternal grandmother. Fundamentally, it serves as a time capsule of memories — a means of archiving, remembering, and reliving the moments that will one day be forgotten.
