Bihler, Victoria F.. Identifying the need for an educational intervention on workplace bullying in undergraduate nursing curriculums. Retrieved from https://doi.org/doi:10.7282/t3-9qnf-nv31
DescriptionPurpose of Project: To identify a need for education on workplace bullying in undergraduate nursing curriculums, prior to nurses entering the field, where they may become a victim of workplace bullying.
Methodology: An online educational module for students to take through CANVAS platform on their own time. Pre and post test survey scores were used for data collection and interpretations.
Results: Increases were shown in post-test scores compared to the pretest scores when evaluating student's knowledge, self-efficacy, and resourcefulness in managing instances of workplace bullying against them.
Implications for Practice: These results were helpful in identifying the importance of empowering soon-to-be new graduate nurses with knowledge and skills to identify, communicate with and report a workplace bully in their future roles. Educational programs on nurse bullying may be incorporated into undergraduate nursing curriculums, as well as hospital orientation programs going forward.
