DescriptionIn a community of approximately 5,000 persons living in an area of over 36 square miles there would appear to be little need for undertakings usually associated with the urban or suburban community. Yet cognizant of trends which foretell of far-reaching changes in the community in the years ahead, and with commendable foresight, the Township of Berkeley has proceeded with the preparation of a Master Plan.
The Master Plan presents in text and illustrations a series of comprehensive and long range recommendations which serve as both an expression of the goals of the community and a practical guide towards attaining these goals. Based on surveys and analyses of existing and anticipated trends in population, housing and economic growth, and of the character of the land and its development, a plan has been prepared which consists of three major elements:
Land Use Plan: A plan which shows in general terms those areas of the township which may be best developed for various land uses.
Circulation Plan: A plan for the development of a rational and efficient street system which will accommodate future local and regional traffic volumes.
Community Facilities Plan: A plan which analyzes the existing school, recreation and public facilities and recommends a program for future expansion.
