DescriptionThe New Jersey Clean Air Council (CAC) is a statutorily created advisory body that provides ongoing input and recommendations to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) on air quality issues. The CAC conducts annual public hearings to highlight pressing air quality issues affecting New Jersey.
The 2000 CAC public hearing focused on air toxics in New Jersey. Testimony was given by stakeholders that provided information and suggestions regarding the testing and regulation of air toxics in the state. The hearing encompassed the sources and health effects of air toxics, the risk assessment tools and monitoring status of these pollutants. The hearing asked if new regulations were needed and if the current rules were adequately enforced.
