DescriptionA survey of all private, commercial, and quasi-public outdoor recreational facilities in the State was conducted by the New Jersey Department of Conservation and Economic Development. The main purpose of the survey was to provide information on the private sector of outdoor recreation in the State, to be used in the forthcoming "New Jersey Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan." Field survey assignments were made by county areas rather than forest and park regions. Each county was broken down into sectors with one individual being assigned the responsibility of conducting the survey within one or more sectors of a county. All required reports (completed survey sheets, weekly time report sheets) were then forwarded to the Trenton office for tabulation. The survey was conducted principally from February to April, 1966.
The written report and interpretation of the "Inventory of Commercial, Private and Quasi-Public Outdoor Recreation Facilities" has been divided into the following parts for presentation:

Part IV - Survey Data Sheets
This report, Part I - County Totals, is the main report since it contains the explanation of the survey itself in addition to an interpretation of the data by the county area.
