DescriptionIn late 1967, when the Borough of Island Heights decided to embark on a
master plan, a public meeting was held in the Municipal Building. The
citizens of Island Heights, all official boards and agencies, religious,
political, cultural and other organized groups were invited.
Approximately 60 persons attended, a not insignificant proportion of the
Borough's 1,200 citizens. A discussion was held on the plan, how it would
be prepared and what it could do for the community. Suggestions, ideas and
recommendations were solicited from those in attendance and used by the
Planning Board to develop its master plan program.
This recommended master plan is the result of the efforts of the Planning
Board over the past two years.
