DescriptionAn interim plan for wastewater management for the Millstone River Basin was prepared by the Department of Environmental Protection in August 1972. This document was to serve as a base for more detailed facility plans and projects that were proposed for the three major service areas in the Millstone Basin: the Upper Millstone, the Stony Brook, and the Lower Millstone. The interim plan summarized background data, water quality problems, existing and proposed waste discharges, and alternative conceptual plans to resolve existing problems while providing for future wastewater and water quality needs in the area. The interim plan did not, however, contain conclusions to the best plan for the Stony Brook Regional Sewerage Authority (SBRSA) district, because the necessary information was not available at the time regarding the costs and environmental impacts of various alternative plans. This critical information has since been developed (Environmental Assessment Report, June 1973) permitting outstanding decisions to be made. It is the purpose of this Addendum to present a summary of the alternatives considered and finalize conceptual decisions for the SBRSA district.
