DescriptionThe New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is committed to implementing a
comprehensive, statewide watershed management strategy. Part of that strategy is to determine the assimilative capacity of the state's waterways and to assess the extend of their impairment. In this regard, the Bureau of Freshwater and Biological Monitoring (BFWBM). has been requested to
provide evaluation monitoring of waterways currently listed on the state's 303(d) "Impaired Waters"
list. The purpose of such sampling is to assess the validity of that impairment designation and to
gather information for the eventual design of a sampling program for the development of a Total
Maximum Daily Load Model.
This report is part of a series of reports that will be used to convey the results of that field sampling
to the Department's water assessment team, watershed managers, modelers and others who have an
interest in the state's water quality.
