DescriptionMiddlesex County Planning Board has identified that significant levels of development of energy related facilities may occur in the County, and in particular within Middlesex County's Coastal Zone/Raritan Bay area. In light of the expected increases in demand for water, development of alternative intra-County water supply strategies for accommodating energy-related development becomes vital. The objective of this project is to propose improvements that will insure that sufficient water supplies are available and deliverable, and to support energy facility development without impacting the rising water demands that will accompany future growth. As a result of the potential shortage of high quality water supplies to support energy industry development, it is necessary to perform a detailed assessment of the water supply situation, which will lead to an active role in formulating future water supply strategies to precede development of energy facilities. This study will further attempt to identify a number of appropriate physical parameters regarding the coastal municipal water distribution systems, as well as water distribution agency positions, in formulating a range of feasible energy facility water supply scenarios.
NoteSupported through financial assistance provided under the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972, as amended.
