DescriptionThe extent of the investigation of the Flood Hazard Areas within the 1100 square mile Raritan River Basin covers 30 streams with 333 lineal stream miles of floodplains. The scope of this study of Green Brook includes 13 linear miles of stream extending from the upper limit at the confluence of Blue Brook and Green Brook, downstream generally in a southwesterly direction to the mouth of Green Brook at the Raritan River. The topography of the land bordering the stream within the study area varies considerably. Green Brook passes from a very urbanized area where man has encroached on the floodplains to a more suburban area where as yet the floodplains are relatively free of man's encroachment.
NotePurpose: To assist communities in achieving wise utilization of their flood prone areas.
