DescriptionThis report has been occasioned by recognition of the fact that it is in the public interest to study means of providing adequate and attractive transportation for the 220,000 people who now cross the Hudson River in each direction every weekday by public conveyances. Many among the 140,000 crossing each way in private automobiles would also benefit. The report deals principally with the physical facilities that would be required, their estimated cost and the probable financial results of operation. Related problems to be solved by others include those of legislation, finance and administration.
