DescriptionThis Land Use Inventory and Analysis presents and analyzes patterns of land development existing in 1967 in the Middlesex County Study Area. Historical development trends are described and analyzed; a comparison is described and relationships analyzed between the Study Area and the surrounding 10 county northeastern New Jersey region; land use categories are inventoried and analyzed including lands devoted to residences; manufacturing; wholesaling, construction; mining; retailing; services; finance, insurance and real estate; government; public open space; and agriculture.
Also inventoried and analyzed are vacant lands and water and swamp areas. Analyses are drawn for three sub-regions of the Study Area and for 26 individual municipalities. Land use information is presented for 89 analysis districts as further geographic subdivision. Factors influencing the land use location are identified and conclusions are drawn as to the prospects of growth for the three regions of the Study Area. All aspects of the inventory and analysis are shaped to form the analytic basis for forecasts of future land uses and the future distributions of these.
