DescriptionThe 1979 Aerial Colony Nesting Waterbird Survey represents the third consecutive year that personnel of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection have conducted research to locate, census, monitor, and protect seventeen (17) species of colonial (nesting in groups or colonies) waterbirds and their coastal breeding habitats. This 1979 census was conducted under the joint auspices of the Department's Division of Coastal Resources and the Division of Fish, Game and Shellfisheries' Endangered and Nongame Species Project. Both agencies are charged with the wise management of various aspects of the natural resources of the coastal zone.
