DescriptionThe Kittatinny Ridge and Valley is part of the Appalachian Ridge and Valley region located in northwest New Jersey, southeast New York, and northeast Pennsylvania. This fact sheet from the New Jersey Field Office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service highlights protected areas within the New Jersey portion of the Kittatinny Ridge and Valley, explains why the region is ecologically important for plants and animals, and describes the rare features of the Kittatinny Ridge for New Jersey, including shale cliff and rock outcrop communities that harbor rare flora and fauna.
