DescriptionFarmland preservation is part of a state-wide program geared to keeping agriculture a viable industry. The goal is to save working farms from developmental pressure. Monmouth County lost an average of 1,000 acres of farmland per year between 1982 and 1992. New Jersey has gone from food exporting to food importing. This pamphlet describes farmland preservation and its importance and provides information on implementing a farmland preservation program and how the Monmouth County Planning Board can assist in starting such programs.
