DescriptionThis annual report highlights several of the key issues that the Site Remediation Program targeted in 1998. in December 1998, a new enforcement initiative targeting facilities that do not comply with state and federal requirements to upgrade underground storage tanks. During the year, the Historic Pesticide Contamination Task Force issued a draft report that recommends how to modify New Jersey's cleanup process to address the risks presented by historical pesticide contamination. Another topic covered in the report is the direct billing and cost recovery increase during the state fiscal year. The use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology as a tool for managing site investigation and cleanup is presented as well. A section of the report covers regulatory updates that took place during the year. The final section is dedicated to the progress at contaminated sites.
