DescriptionThe Interstate Sanitation Commission was created in 1936 by a compact between the states of New York and New Jersey with the purpose of treating and preventing water pollution in the tidal waters of the New York Metropolitan Area. Connecticut joined the Commission in 1941. In 1972, air pollution became a primary focus of the Commission, as well. This report is prepared each year and provides a record of the water and air pollution activities of the Commission, focusing on technical assistance, planning, laboratory analyses and monitoring.
