Report to Middlesex County Sewerage Authority on Land-Based Sludge Management Alternatives Part IA. Retrieved from https://doi.org/doi:10.7282/T3ZS2WDM
DescriptionThis report details the results of investigations and analyses of potential land-based sludge management alternatives capable of handling the sludge quantity projected for the year 2000 (271 dry tons per day). Based on these results, the report recommends that the Middlesex County Sewerage Authority implement a sludge management program incorporating filter presses for dewatering, multiple hearth starved air combustion for volume reduction, and on-site lagooning of the resulting residue. The recommendations are based on proceeding immediately with the program that will assure that ocean disposal of sludge will be discontinued by December 1981. Other contents include: sludge quantities and characteristics; regulatory requirements; cost effective analysis; and implementation consideration.
NotePurpose: To recommend a comprehensive, cost-effective, environmentally sound, land-based sludge management plan, in conformance with Federal and State 201 Facilities Planning requirements.
