DescriptionWhite Lake Natural Resource Area is extremely important due to ocurrences of globally rare elements including the Northern metalmark butterfly, three limestone fen communities, a limestone forest community, and seven limestone pondshore communities. It is also home to a diversity of bird, butterfly, and amphibian species. White Lake is being threatened by home development and invasive species. This report describes efforts to combat these threats through a combination of acquisitions of priority habitat and conservation easements, stewardship for invasive species control, and continuting education.
