DescriptionIn accordance with the requirements of the New Jersey Solid Waste Management Act (N.J.S.A. 13: 1E-1 et seq.), Morris County has been designated as a solid waste management district, along with each of the remaining New Jersey Counties and the Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission. Each solid waste management district has been charged with the responsibility of developing a long-range solid waste management plan. This plan was prepared in May 1985. The plan amendment modifies the original plan to address several issues that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Energy wanted included in the amendment. The plan amendment also incorporates the recommendations contained in a report of the Emergency Solid Waste Assessment Task Force. The plan amendment addresses issues such as reduction of solid waste sources, recycling, and dependence on out-of-state landfills.
NotePrepared for the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
