1. Configuration for digital file handling
   • Added configuration option to package (tar or zip) all master files together before archiving or archive files individually as they are uploaded.
   • Streamlined the file policy configuration process by separating digital file handling rules from file policies. Default rules will only need to be set once. Special rules can be set for collections with special file handling requirements.
   • Added configuration option for directory handling rules.
   • Automatically output (and update) digital file policies to the file system as xml file for use by other RUcore modules.
   • Improved user interface and configuration workflow.
2. Configuration for metadata
   • Added configuration option for technical metadata. Options include how to generate technical metadata (automatically or manually), and where to store them (inline or offline).

3. Digital file uploading and processing
   • Allow multiple archival file upload and processing if so configured, and the file sections in the metadata have been re-worked according to the new specification.

Workflow Management System

1. Improved User Interface
   • Streamlined workflow navigation. It is now more focused on and optimized for general-user digital material cataloging process.
   • The options for switching to different modules, including user account management, are now available to the user at any stage of working in WMS.
   • Sub-functional module navigation buttons are moved to the top of the screen, and are available to the user no matter which sub-module he/she is working in.
   • Switching between collections can now be performed at any stage of metadata and digital object workflow.
2. Metadata cataloging
   • To improve the performance of the utility and the user experience, the handling and processing of metadata cataloging within the session have been moved to client side.
   • Long-existing bugs in the handling of event metadata cataloging have been fixed, along with other identified issues.
3. Template
   • Ability to create a template record from another template record as well as an existing record.
   • Able to enter CV terms when creating a template.
   • The name of the template is displayed on the metadata entry screen.
   • Handles no longer appear in a template record.
4. File Upload
   • Thumbnails are created from the first page of PDF, word doc, and original or derivative TIFF files.
   • Presentation files can now be created from the derivative TIFF files.
   • Added an option to Delete All Existing files.
5. Reorganization of the metadata grouping
   • The organization and display of the metadata/digital objects has been moved from owner-centric to collection-centric.
6. Enhanced collection structure
   • Added more metadata elements.
   • Alphabetized collection list.
   • Collection owners can now be either corporate or personal, or both.
7. Flexible date elements
   • Configurable encoding standards.
   • Configurable date format for each standard.
   • The configured date formats are enforced for user date entry.
   • Able to add date in free text format.
8. Customizable metadata entry form
   • Metadata elements can be added, removed, enabled, or disabled at collection level.
   • Metadata html form entry field type can be specified or changed.
   • Controlled Vocabulary Term sources can be enabled or disabled at collection level.
   • Controlled vocabulary field can be configured to allow free-text entry.

10. Embargo policy
    • Automated creation of XACML policy for embargoed resources if certain metadata fields have been populated with certain pre-defined values (trigger). Current trigger is: rights metadata must have the following entries in the rights event: Rights event type = Embargo and event end date = YYYY-MM-DD.
    • The trigger can be configured in configuration module.

Faculty Deposit Module

• Faculty members can deposit NIH funded articles directly using the new features added.
• Under Title of Journal, volume number, issue number, date, start page and end page added.
• Faculty members have access to view download statistics for their collection

RUcore search and display

• Improved "showfed" display.
• Collection objects are suppressed from the results list by default except the RUresearch portal.
• By default, the collection structure is hidden, and a "+" button is added to expand the collection tree.
• By default, the collections are unselected.
• Record results are transformed using new XML binding method allowing multiple data sources to provide record information.
• Added ability for Partner Portal users to create search filters in advanced search menus.

Known Issues in RUcore Release 5.2

1. Workflow Management System (WMS)
• Some older records in WMS may not ingest. Resaving the record seems to resolve the issue.
• Ghostscript in WMS has some problem creating thumbnails for some PDFs.
2. RUcore Search
   • Search and retrieval in RUcore seems to be slow. We are investigating the issue.
