DescriptionThe New Jersey 1986 State Water Quality Inventory Report is the seventh in a series of State Water Quality Inventory Reports that have been prepared by the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection since 1975. The report addresses the following issues: the quality of the State's surface waters; an analysis of the extent to which surface waters will attain the fish propagation and maintenance swimmable goals of the Clean Water Act; the determination of changes throughout the State; a description of water pollution sources that are adversely affecting water quality; and, what actions are necessary to improve water quality in the State's waters so that clean water goals are achieved and the estimated costs of such actions.
NotePurpose: To assess current water quality conditions in the State's major rivers, lakes, estuaries, ocean waters, and ground water.
