DescriptionBlack and white photo postcard of Well's Memorial Hospital with a postmark date of September 1907.
Middlesex General Hospital is the oldest in Middlsex County and its inception dates from the year 1884, at which time it was known as the New Brunswick City Hospital. In May 1889, the first true hospital buidling on Somerset Street was erected and given by Mrs. Grace Wells, in memory of her husband. The name was changed to John Wells Memorial Hospital and many additions to the buildings and improvements to the equipment were made possible by the financial assistance of Mrs. John Wells. The name was again changed in 1916 to the Middlesex General Hospital.
