DescriptionThe God of Slow Things is a collection of poems that deal with the primary themes of family, travel, and love. Divided into three sections, the poems are primarily free verse and rely on a blend of lyric and narrative impulses. The first section is poems that deal mainly with my upbringing, my family, and how I navigate throughout the world. It includes poems about or set in the places I have lived and traveled. The second section is a collection of poems that imagine Walt Whitman coming back to present-day Camden and living in the house with my wife and I. The third section are poems primarily about love and place, many of them set in or about the city of Camden, and often rely on the impulse to find beauty in the sadness and violence of the natural and human worlds.
