DescriptionTablet dissolution modeling has seen many efforts from both empirical and physical approaches. We present an expandable 3-D Cartesian framework for modeling multiple physical processes involved in tablet dissolution, which allows for a more straightforward generation of models while maintaining powerful model manipulation. Also presented is an experimental technique for quantifying solvent penetration and dynamic surface erosion. Two types of solid oral dosage forms are experimentally characterized and then modeled. One system is governed by drug particle dissolution, the other by surface erosion.
