DescriptionThis video describes how a 19th century oil pipeline used methods to contain oil residue which created conditions for a delayed oil spill that took place in in Northern New Jersey in 1998. Following a season of heavy rainfall, oil, buried long ago seeped from its containment to pose a danger to the Pequannock River, the river's water quality, and its trout population, as well as nearby sites of historical and cultural significance. The plans formulated to recover the oil and clean the site are also described and shown.
