Abstract (type = abstract)
No Stone Unturned is a collection of nonfiction essays that combine elements of travel, gender, identity and family. At their core, these essays are motivated by a desire to discover why we travel and what it means to be a family. Through a series of trips--ranging from the Jersey shore to California and South Africa (and many places in between), No Stone Unturned seeks to answer the question, "How do we become who we are?" While the essays are deeply personal, they are designed to resonate in every reader, whether it be through the poetry of description or a familiar situation in which others have also found themselves in. Why do we travel? What does it say about us? These essays will inspire readers to ask themselves these questions: How do we balance the natural world with the world that we spend the majority of our time in? When we've answered all of these questions about ourselves, who are we left with?
