TitleExamining the impacts of federal and state interior immigration enforcement policies on Latinx children’s educational outcomes in the United States using difference-in-difference methodology
DescriptionThe primary aim of this research was to estimate the causal relationship between the implementation of interior immigration enforcement policies and Latinx educational outcomes between 2000-2016, using difference-in-difference methodology. Student outcome data were drawn from two national data sets, the Stanford Education Data Archive Version 3.0 and the National Center for Education Statistics Common Core of Data Public Elementary/Secondary School Universe Survey Data. Interior immigration enforcement activation data were assembled from existing freedom of information act requests, the National Conference of State Legislature website, the Urban Institute’s State Immigration Policy Resources data, and Migration Policy Institute reports. Findings replicate and extend previous claims of negative educational outcomes for Latinx students when interior immigration enforcement policies are present.
